The Kuvempunagar Police on Saturday arrested 10 foreign students on the charges of assaulting three police constables and causing public nuisance.

Nine of the arrested are from Tanzania and the other one is a Kenyan national. Seven of them are studying in the JSS Law College and the rest in the SBRR Mahajana’s College, the police said.

Residents of Kanakadasanagar had complained to the police that the students were causing nuisance in the locality allegedly in an inebriated condition.

Around 4 a.m., three police constables went to the building in which the students were residing for an inquiry. However, the students assaulted them and tore their uniform, Kuvempunagar inspector Dhananjay said.

On learning about the incident, a police team led by sub-inspector Prasanna Kumar rushed to the spot and took the students into custody. Seven cars, two motorcycles and liquor bottles were seized, the police said.
